Fruit and Vegetable Decomposition

If you like time-lapse photography as much as I do, you'll certainly enjoy this video:

The author of this video took a picture every ten minutes initially. but the playback at 30 frames per second was too long, so he used a quarter of the images, making it 1 picture every 40 minutes. The video spans 74 days. The growth at the end of the video is from the potato. Also, the hundreds or thousands of little specks you see buzzing around are fruit flies.

Thanks to Roozbeh for sharing this nice time-lapse.

A quoi ça sert l’amour?

A quoi ça sert l’amour? is a charming animation by French production house Cube about the trials and tribulations of love set to the tune of a wonderful duet between Edith Piaf and Theo Sarapo.

Louis Clichy is a former student of Gobelins, where he graduated with the short movie Juranessic in 2002.

Shared as usual, by the connoisseur of cartoons of mine ;)

Get Out

This French cartoon may seem to be frightening at first, but hang in there for the surprise ending you would have never imagined yourself ;-)

The film has been nominated and won multiple prestigious awards, so be sure to check its website. Definitely check The Making Of there ;-)

I bet Hamed is kin on short films as this must have been at least the third one I stole from him.

Procrastination

Lev has a lot of stuff to get done. He will start getting his stuff done... in a minute.

This reminded me of one of the very first posts that were made to this blog on the same subject: Structured Procrastination :)

i wanna grow old with you

Surely the most romantic song I've ever heard -=8-) I love the video too, whoever made it must have felt the same :)

The song is from the 1998 movie "The Wedding Singer", which is definitely going to be the next movie on my list ;-)

and I'd surely love to watch it with someone who shared this song with me :)

Sand Animation

Ukraine's Got Talent again - this time not as young, but surely as amazing!

«The show was prepared for the 9th of May, in honor of the opening of the memorial "Krasnaya Gorka" in Evpatoria, where 12.5 thousand residents were executed during WWII.»

The young artist Xenia Simonoff is only 24 years old and is one of only 4 people in the world involved in this form of art...

P.S. There is something divine about this masterpiece: yesterday I was showing it to my friends, right after which we left. As soon as I got into the car and started it, there was "Nothing else matters" playing on the radio - the last part from the music accompaniment in the sand animation...

P.P.S. She actually became the winner of "Ukraine's Got Talent"!

American History in a Food Fight

Food Fight by Stefan Nadelman is an abridged history of American-centric war, from World War II to present day, told through the foods of the countries in conflict. Watch as traditional comestibles slug it out for world domination in this chronologically re-enacted smorgasbord of aggression.

Stefan Nadelman FAQs:

  • The food in this film was consumed either by Stefan or his dog after shooting. None of the cast went to waste.
  • The software used was photoshop and after effects.
  • The film took me 3 months to do.
  • Although it seems like stop motion, most of it was stop motion created within After effects, using keyframe animation. Stefan is basically moving the food around within the the program, frame by frame, which is the same as traditional stop motion, only it's digital.

If you thought what I thought every time he started a new drawing, you need to see a doctor :-) A very funny speed drawing by Mauricio Ricardo under the cover of Os Seminovos...

P.S. "Ao mestre com Carinho" apparently means "To the master with Affection" whatever that one means :-)
